Heuristic guide · Illustrative stats

The India Ghost Job Index.

A ghost job is a listing that was never going to hire you — already filled, quietly frozen, or posted only to collect resumes. This page explains the signals Reunitor's detector uses and shows illustrative sector shares based on heuristic scoring — not a census or a monthly data product.

Over time, the Index will also aggregate anonymous “Report ghost” signals from signed-in users inside Jobs. Until that corpus is large enough, we do not invent live percentages — the figures below stay illustrative heuristics.

Naukri & LinkedIn playbook

How ghost listings usually show up in India

On Naukri, watch for the same role code reposted every few weeks with identical JD text and no salary band — common in services “bench planning.” On LinkedIn Easy Apply, evergreen “Hiring!” posts from pages that never name a hiring manager or team are often résumé magnets. Neither signal alone proves a ghost; stacked with age and vagueness, they earn a flag inside Reunitor Matches so you can skip or verify before you apply.

  1. Open the listing history — third repost in 90 days without a hire is a warning.
  2. Demand a band or range; “competitive” with no number is weaker intent in Indian mid-market roles.
  3. Ask for the team or manager on the call; if nobody owns the seat, treat it as a pipeline post.
Report flow

Signed-in users can flag suspicious matches from Jobs; those anonymous signals will feed a future Index update once the corpus is large enough. Until then, email support@reunitor.com with the listing URL — we use reports to tune heuristics, not to publish unverified company scorecards.

Methodology

Six signals, weighed together.

No single signal condemns a listing. The detector weighs them together and assigns a risk level — and inside the product, every flag shows its reasoning so you can overrule it.

REPOSTED 3+ TIMES

The same role re-listed again and again without a hire is a pipeline, not a vacancy.

60+ DAYS OLD

Serious openings in the Indian market close in weeks. A listing gathering dust usually already has.

SALARY HIDDEN

Salary transparency correlates strongly with real intent to hire at a known budget.

VAGUE DESCRIPTION

No team, no stack, no scope — descriptions written to collect resumes, not to fill a seat.

ALWAYS HIRING

Companies that list the same evergreen role year-round are building a database, not a team.

NO NAMED TEAM OR MANAGER

Real roles belong to someone. Ghost roles belong to a folder.

Inside the product

Every match you see is already ghost-checked.

The Index is the monthly public summary. Inside Reunitor, the same detector runs on every role we match you to — high-risk listings are flagged and set aside before you waste an application on them.
